Prayer To Arn
Arn is the Bowynn god of the North wind and the Lord of the Northern Realms. He is the eldest of the 4 sons born to Morrighynn and Herne. Arn is wed to the Goddess Meliea, Goddess of the winter season. in many ways Arn has a second role that bears much like that of Santa Clause or Father Christmas. On Yule Eve, candles are left in the windows to honor the wind god and food is left to feed him and his bride, as they walk the night turning all into winter. With the houses that they so find pleased with, the God taps the shutters with his candles-staff, thus blessing the household to weather out the winter season. He may also leave gifts of a feast and small gifts and sweets and fruit for children. Another close similly to Father Christmas is that Arn's Sledge is pulled by his 3 elk steeds. the elk represent the three sacred days of Yule.As Lord of the north wind and the eldest Arn often takes charge of the other winds, tell his brothers where and when to blow. Often he is depicted withing the cloud realm churching the clouds with his staff to either calm the sky or cause them to blow strong or even start snowing.Arn is a god all of his own but at the same time he is often worshipped together alothing with his brothers: Lyan (East) Saphon (south) and Ryan (west) During any ceremony to the wind gods Milk and fresh spring water is the main offering; which is often poured in bowls or holes in the four directions. Arn how ever as his own divinity loves water that is from melted snow and ice. Other wonderous gifts Arn is fond of is white flowers, painted feathers, wolf votives, and of course incense.Arn is seen as an eldest god with a pleasing grandfather-like face. His robes are long and of blue and white. His head is adorned with a wreath of holly and ivy. on his side is a satchel from which he pulls the gifts that is left at homes on Winter Eve. In his hand he holds his Lantern-Staff, the lantren part being shaped like an acorn. Often wolves, cardinals and elk have been seen with the lord of the north as well. And it is not surprizing to learn that Arn will take the shape of these creatures if in mortal presence (Two wonderful depictions of the God were done by Jess-foxx-quinn here [link] [link]Gods assocaited with Arn; Boreas and H"odr
